Well, I figured out what was wrong with my S600... Busted radiator. Anyone care to guess the price ? Whoever is closest can have the damn thing.
EDIT: The TurbochargedSquirrel got it at $2100

Slightly less that is.

Hmmmm...$2500 radiator, with about a dozen auxiliary coolers on top of it, doesn’t drop in or out easily, lets call it $3,250 in labor. Round off for shop consumables.
Lets call it $6,200.

I’ll give you a loaf of bread and a pack of gum for it

Click the link. That’s a link to a new radiator for $322.54.

Well yeah, but how much including labor ?
![]() 09/27/2016 at 15:03 |

It looks like a bitch to get to so $1000-1500 at an indie and $10,000 at Mercedes.
![]() 09/27/2016 at 15:04 |

You were within 300 bucks. $2100
![]() 09/27/2016 at 15:04 |

$1,200
Edit: just saw S600. Please reverse the first two digits.

Flip the 2 and the 1 and you’ve got it.

Which is why I have a w123 merc! And why I have a 240z instead of a 911! Dig hole, begin shoveling currency into hole.

This is why I have an LS400

Be ready for my 300,000 mile post. It is happening tomorrow.

Congrats! I washed mine this morning and will probably roll over 223,000 tomorrow night.

These Nashville-Knoxville-Birmingham trips added up quick.

See my edit. What do I win?
![]() 09/27/2016 at 15:25 |
|
True. I road tripped mine over the weekend and fell 62 miles short...

You and TurbochargedSquirrel will have to split ownership of the S600. Good luck and Godspeed...

10-12 hours IIRC. Extrapolate dollars from there as you will.
![]() 09/27/2016 at 16:28 |
|
2 1/2 to 4 hour drives are the sweet spot in an LS400.
![]() 09/27/2016 at 16:36 |
|
Yep! Long but not too long
![]() 09/27/2016 at 16:41 |

A Platinum Tundra does 5 no problem. Mostly because the aircon seats/bluetooth/blind spot really reduces fatigue.

I did Chicago to Minneapolis (8 iirc) in one go in the S600. Well, except for a gas stop anyways.
![]() 09/27/2016 at 16:44 |
|
Yeah I could probably do it in the LS but I usually have no place to go that long haha.
![]() 09/27/2016 at 17:08 |
|
The only reason I did that was because I bought it in chi chi. Also do you have heated seats in your LS ?
![]() 09/27/2016 at 17:12 |
|
I do. Mine is a base model 1998 which I think all got the heated seats but had less things to break. Plus VVTI bro.
![]() 09/27/2016 at 17:50 |
|
Mine are really weak... It really annoys me...
![]() 09/27/2016 at 17:56 |
|
That’s typical 1990's Toyota. Up until they had the high and low heated seat options they were always insufficient.
![]() 09/27/2016 at 19:42 |
|
whats a custom one cost?
![]() 09/27/2016 at 20:03 |
|
The radiator was only like $450. They have to remove the entire front of the car to get at it though...
![]() 09/27/2016 at 21:14 |
|
that makes more sense.
![]() 09/28/2020 at 01:44 |

10-12 hours on what should be the only easy job under most hoods?!?
And by most hoods, I probably mean any carbureted vehicle, because that's all I know...

Where did you find this post? Dumpster diving down in kinja’s basement?
But anyways, the non-v12 non-ABC radiator is a lot easier. But there are so many hydraulic lines and cooling hoses and so little room to put it all that you have to take apart a ridiculous amount of stuff just to get to a couple bolts that would otherwise not be a problem.
